Princess Beatrice’s silly hat fetches £81,100.01. for charity!

Bidding finished just after 8.30pm on Sunday evening and the controversial headpiece attracted several bids, with an anonymous individual winning the auction.

All proceeds from the hat will go to two charities – Unicef UK and Children in Crisis via the Little Bee Initiative, which was set up by Beatrice specifically for the auction.

Described on the bidding site as being made of ‘delicate rose silk’, since she wore the creation to the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton it has more commonly been described as being similar to a toilet seat.

The bidding suffered a slight glitch on Saturday when the website suffered a ‘technical issue’ and the auction was halted.

Beatrice commented on the site, saying: ‘I’ve been amazed by the amount of attention the hat has attracted.

‘I hope whoever wins the auction has as much fun with the hat as I have.’

What can we say Beatrice, looks like bad fashion does pay off!
